So, I did what I always do when a product has outlived its supported lifespan - I updated and replaced my old cheap graphics card with something newer and frankly, just as cheap.

Microsoft has a generic VGA driver that does work in some cases, and you can also try the Windows 8 driver - but neither worked well for me in Insider Testing (You and I need the same driver) If they have chosen to deprecate those cards completely, then they will never be supported. Will NVIDIA eventually develop a driver? I have no idea, I contacted NVIDIA directly and they said they will not discuss future development plans. The device manufacturer chooses what legacy equipment to support and what legacy equipment not to support, Microsoft has no control over the hardware manufacturers decision or speed of development.

Then it would become NVIDIA's problem and I am sure they would do something about it.I have a post a couple of page down discussing this as a pain point after release, and it is.ĭoes Microsoft believe this is not their problem? Frankly, it isn't Microsoft problem, they provide the update spec to the hardware manufacturers well advanced of releasing a new product. Win 10 should include a generic driver to get the system going and then you could download a driver for the 6150SE to get all its benifits. This could get out of hand quickly and give Microsoft another black eye. How many other systems have the same problem with other display chipsets. Even if they do then the question becomes will they make it available to be included in the ongoing OTA upgrades, or does Microsoft believe this is not their problem. I would assume NVIDIA has to come out with a driver that will power the system with W10.

The question is are they going to do anything about it.

One of my two systems have that card and it will not upgrade either. Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ (2 CPUs), ~2.There is a ton of PC's with the NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE build in display card in them. Language: English (Regional Setting: English) I had SO run the other test, and here are the results: The fans are working correctly, but I'll run CPUID when I get home. The slots look different than for the 1 GB sticks so I assume this is correct. We did this at Geek Squad where we bought them. We did try to put in 1 GB (sorry about getting confused with MG) sticks in the slots formerly occupied by the 512 sticks, but the computer wouldn't recognize them. (I'm at work and can't download any specific information from the computer until I get home tonight.)

Could it be that I need to install two 512 mg sticks that operate at the same speed as the new 1 mg sticks we installed to satisfy the graphics card? Or, should uninstalling DirecTV2PC take care of it? Or, is there something else I am missing? I understand this graphics card uses the computer's RAM instead of its own memory. I previously installed DirecTV2PC, but am thinking that the graphics card is not robust enough to handle that so tonight I will uninstall it to see if that makes any difference. That didn't help as the computer would not recognize those two sticks. I then reinstalled the two 512 mg sticks, thinking the graphics card needed that memory. Only the internet was totally unreadable, although we had minor wiggling on the desktop at times. I rolled back the NVIDIA driver again, but that didn't help. That made the internet completely illegible, starting with the wiggling, then everything looked like jibberish. Last night, my SO decided to install IE 9. I thought it was because I previously rolled back to the old NVIDIA driver so I reinstalled the updated version. We started having problems soon after we turned the computer on at home in that the screen would get wiggly around the edges. We did, however, keep the old ones in case we needed them, but they were not installed. We put in two new1 mg sticks that were faster than what we had previously, but the Best Buy we went to did not have any 512 mg sticks, so we did not purchase new ones. We didn't do any diagnostics to determine how many or which ones were bad. We have an HP Pavilion that had 3 mg RAM, consisting of two 1 meg sticks and two 512 sticks. After fixing the first problem, we were fine for a few days, then starting getting a BSOD.
